Shimon Amselem, PhD. - CEO
|
|
|
|
Dr. Amselem holds Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacology from the School of Pharmacy, Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His post doctoral studies he completed at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, Washington DC. Dr. Amselem served key positions in several international pharmaceutical companies including Nova Pharmaceutical Corp., Baltimore, MD; Abello SA, Madrid, Spain. Dr. Amselem successfully led pharmaceutical development of 10 new products. Six of them are marketed in the US and Europe. Prior to joining Nextar, he served for several years as Vice President of Pharmaceutical Development at Pharmos Corp. a biopharmaceutical company engaged in drug discovery and development of new chemical entities. During the last 3 years, Dr. Amselem was Chairman of the Steering Committee and Head of Bioavailability project of Pharmalogica, a consortium established by the Office of Chief Scientist of the Israeli Ministry of Industry & Trade.. He was in charge of the entire drug development processes and all CMC and DMPK activities, including synthesis of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), formulation development, biopharmaceutics, bioavailability, bioanalytics, toxicity, pharmacokinetics, metabolism, GMP manufacturing of API and final dosage forms, and production of clinical trial material for human studies. In the course of his work, Dr. Amselem developed a strong network of contacts in the local and the international pharmaceutical industries

Dr. Orna Dreazen, Chairperson of the Board of Directors

|
Dr. Orna Dreazen holds a Ph.D in Biochemistry from the Weizmann Institute of Science. Her postdoctoral studies were completed at University of California in Los Angeles. In 1994 she got a diploma in Business administration from the Tel Aviv University. Dreazen served in key positions in the Industry as well as a public servant: She was the Quality control manager of Interpharm Laboratories Ltd., Established a start up biotech company, Portaman pharmaceuticals Ltd. Between 1994 and 2000, she was the General Director of the National Public Health Laboratories of the Ministry of Health and between 2000 to 2008 she served as the General director of the Israel Laboratory Accreditation Authority. In this capacity, she was involved in many international activities like taking an active role as a member in the Board of Director of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), The Arrangement Committee Chairperson, representing ILAC in ISO and WHO, and The Bureau International Poids and Measures (BIPM) managing the metrology, weights and measures around the world. Dr. Dreazen is an expert in Quality and Metrology and is the Chairperson of the Israel Society of Metrology.

Total logistics management T.L.M at Intel ptk. for 5 years Founder and CEO of a ZIM daughter company- International transportation,leading the company for 7 years. Managed a large-scale of military project at Orlight Industries during more than10 years. Managing product development and bringing to production and coordination with military establishment, introducing new developments.

Alexander (Sasha) Nezlin, M.Sc. - VP Analytical Laboratories

| Mr. Nezlin holds M.Sc. in Chemical Technology from Mendeleev University, Moscow, Russia and M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry from Weizmann Institute, Israel and brings to the Company an extensive industrial and managerial experience. Before joining Nextar he successfully led and managed one the largest Quality Control laboratories of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries at Kfar Saba site. At Teva Mr. Nezlin was responsible for all aspects of cGMP Quality Control operations, including management of a large team, ensuring high regulatory standards, solving professional issues and constantly operating to improve the level and effectiveness of the lab. He led and supervised the reorganization and growth of the laboratory from about 100 to nearly 150 employees. Mr. Nezlin prepared and successfully guided the laboratory through multiple regulatory inspections. Prior to joining Teva, Mr. Nezlin served as QC Manager at CTS Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. Other industry experience includes leading the analytical development at a pharmaceutical start-up, serving as Study Director of GLP studies at a certified contract laboratory, R&D organic chemist at Agan Chemical Manufacturers Ltd.

Dr. Sigalit Ariely-Portnoy, Marketing & Business Development Manager

| Dr. Sigalit Ariely-Portnoy is an entrepreneur and business development manager in biomed companies. She is the Business development manager in Nextar Before that she worked for Teva pharmaceuticals as the Plant Manager of the Oral Solid Dosage Form facility in Kfar-Saba. The plant produced 9 billion tablets with 900 employees. Previously, Dr. Portnoy served as Operations Group Vice President in Taro Pharmaceuticals. At Taro and prior to that role she managed various units in the site and led the team responsible for building Taro's new OSD plant in Haifa. She received her BSc, MSc, and DSc from the Technion Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel, in the fields of Chemical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. Two years ago she finishes four years of leading the PDA (Parenteral Drug Association) Chapter in Israel as a President of the organization

Mrs. Kiray - Kuchuk holds a B.Sc.Pharm degree from Faculty of Medicine, School of Pharmacy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Magna Cum Laude) and Masters in Health Administration from Faculty of Management - Recanati Business school, Tel-Aviv University. While working in community pharmacy, Mrs. Kiray - Kuchuk was a lecturer in the academic program of Edith Wolfson's School of Nursing, Wolfson Medical Center
During her employment Mrs. Kiray - Kuchuk gained extensive experience and knowledge in quality assurance, GMP and regulatory affair requirements.

Batia Ben-Aroya, Ph.D - Head of Chemistry

| Dr. Ben-Aroya holds Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Tel-Aviv University, Israel. Dr. Ben-Aroya recently returned from a post-doctoral position in the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver, Canada. At UBC, she was working in the Advanced Biomaterials laboratories in the forestry department, were she was responsible for the organic synthesis projects. Dr. Ben-Aroya specialized in the synthesis and design of composite biomaterials and has developed methods and techniques for casting these novel biomaterials into honeycomb shaped thin films. During her Ph.D. Dr. Ben-Aroya has specialized in Solid Phase Organic Synthesis of small molecules, combinatorial chemistry and high-throughput synthesis. She is proficient in organic synthesis and analysis, including chromatography (HPLC, GPC, GC-MS), UV-vis and FTIR spectroscopy, thermal analysis (MDSC, MTGA), elemental analysis and highly experienced in various NMR techniques (1D, 2D techniques and gel phase NMR). Dr. Ben-Aroya brings to the company many years of experience in organic chemistry.
