Dr. Orna Dreazen, CEO and Chairperson of the Board of Directors

Dr. Orna Dreazen holds a Ph.D in Biochemistry from the Weizmann Institute of Science. Her postdoctoral studies were completed at University of California in Los Angeles. In 1994 she got a diploma in Business administration from the Tel Aviv University. Dreazen served in key positions in the Industry as well as a public servant: She was the Quality control manager of Interpharm Laboratories Ltd., Established a start up biotech company, Portaman pharmaceuticals Ltd. Between 1994 and 2000, she was the General Director of the National Public Health Laboratories of the Ministry of Health and between 2000 to 2008 she served as the General director of the Israel Laboratory Accreditation Authority. In this capacity, she was involved in many international activities like taking an active role as a member in the Board of Director of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), The Arrangement Committee Chairperson, representing ILAC in ISO and WHO, and The Bureau International Poids and Measures (BIPM) managing the metrology, weights and measures around the world. Dr. Dreazen is an expert in Quality and Metrology and was the Chairperson of the Israel Society of Metrology.

Ludmila Feigel , Pharmacist in Charge 

Ludmila Feigel got her B.Sc. Pharm and studied towards M.Sc Pharm at the School of Pharmacy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.Before joining Nextar, Ludmila Feigel held the position of pharmacist-formulator (R&D department) at Lycored Ltd. and the position of pharmacist in charge at Nesher Solutions Ltd. She has a 10 years experience in research and development. Ludmila developed drugs for clinical trials, controlled by the Israel Ministry of Health and FDA, in compliance with the GMP requirements.During her employment Mrs. Feigel gained experience and knowledge in development, GMP and regulatory affair requirements.


Dr. Joseph Klein VP R&D

Dr. Klein has over 25 years of demonstrated R&D experience in the fields of organic synthesis of new chemical entities and development of biopharmaceuticals

Dr. Klein holds a PhD in Chemistry from the Weizmann Institute of Science, followed by a post-doctorate fellowship at the University of Louvain-la-Neuve , Belgium in the field of organic synthesis. After returning to Israel, he joined Complexx LLC  where, as VP of R&D he led the development of novel imaging agents for CT and MRI from early stages to phase III clinical studies. In 2002 he moved to InSight Biopharmaceuticals as Director of Chemistry and Drug development, heading a team of chemists, biochemists and engineers, developing new chemical entities in the fields of cancer and autoimmune inflammatory diseases. Dr. Klein also had a key role in developing sophisticated generics from concept to commercialized products. In addition, he served as the Head of the Downstream Process Development group, developing purification processes of recombinant proteins and antibodies as active substances in a variety of biopharmaceuticals.

Dr. Daniel Epstein - Director of Analytical Labs 

Dr. Daniel Epstein holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the State University of New York at Buffalo.  He brings with him 10 years of experience in analytical chemistry in the pharmaceutical industry.  Before joining Nextar Dr. Epstein worked as a Study Director at Analyst Research Laboratories where he gained extensive experience in analytical and Bioanalytical methods development, validation, and implementation.  In his capacity as Study Director he oversaw the performance of up to 20 GLP studies annually from development to the successful analysis of thousands of biological samples.  Dr. Epstein brings with him a broad knowledge of analytical instrumentation encompassing all aspects and stages of drug development.

Hagai Hazkani, M.Sc. Production Director in Nextar

Mr. Hazkani holds BSc in Chemistry and MSc in Biochemistry from Tel Aviv University, and a diploma in Business Administration from the Technion. Most of his career was in the Israeli Biotechnology industry, about twenty years in Interpharm labs and industries, and about five years in B.T.G as production manager and director, as well as four years in a New GMP facility in Sigma Aldrich in Jerusalem as project manager. Mr. Hazkani has specialized in large scale production of mammalian cells and bacteria derived products for clinical trials and marketing, validation and implementation of upstream and downstream processes, clean room validation and operation, and implementation of GMP compliance in operations. He involved in development and production of two ethic drugs and medical devices. As a project manager in Sigma CMO facility he served clients from international pharmaceuticals companies. Mr. Hazkani was involved in tens of successful international health authority inspection as a production manager.


Liat Kimhi, B.Sc- QA Manager 

Ms. Liat kimhi  has a B. Sc in chemical engineer, graduated Ben-Gurion University. She brings over 20 years of experience in quality assurance systems. Prior to joining Nextar, Ms. Kimhi worked for about 8 years as the head of the engineering division in ISRAC (Israel Laboratory Accreditation Authority) Acted as a lead assessor in ISRAC in the standards: ISO/IEC 17025-General requirement for the competence of testing and calibration laboratory, ISO/IEC 17020- Conformity assessment — Requirements for the operation of various types of bodies performing inspection, official inspector in OECD-GLP (Good Laboratory Practice). Before ISRAC Ms. Kimhi was the head of the Quality Assurance Department of the Aminolab LTD. (A testing laboratory in microbiology, analytical chemistry, environmental and pharmaceuticals). Managed the Quality Assurance of ISO/IEC 17025 and OECD-GLP (Good Laboratory Practice). Ms Kimhi has advantage in understanding Metrology (measurement theory), validation methods, developing an effective quality management system. Implementation and Maintenance of Quality Management Systems, Strategy and periodic assessment, Complex issues in Metrology (method validation, traceability - i.e. reference materials & reference range, uncertainty), Teaching and Training.


Eng. Avi Semel VP operation

Mr. Avi Semel , Industrial engineer graduated Tel Aviv University. Brings over 25 years of managerial experience. Total logistics management T.L.M at Intel ptk. for 5 years Founder and CEO of a ZIM daughter company- International transportation,leading the company for 7 years. Managed a large-scale of military project at Orlight Industries during more than10 years. Managing product development and bringing to production and coordination with military establishment, introducing new developments

Mor Lanel Cpa-CFO

BA in Economics and Accounting – Tel Aviv University.A Certified Public Accountant Since 1981.Served as the CFO of Isrotel Hotel Management, A lecturer in Finance and Accounting in Ben-Gurion University, CFO and CEO of Inntegral  Business Intelligence Systems Ltd. Financial and Economical Advisor to to Bank Hapoalim, Koor, Cal, Mivtahim Pension Fund, R&D companies of Bar- Ilan University and Ben-Gurion University, Ofer Brothers and other companies.

Dr. Shimon Amselem - Founder, scientific consultant and Board member

Dr. Amselem holds Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacology from the School of Pharmacy, Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His post doctoral studies he completed at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, Washington DC. Dr. Amselem served key positions in several international pharmaceutical companies including Nova Pharmaceutical Corp., Baltimore, MD; Abello SA, Madrid, Spain. Dr. Amselem successfully led pharmaceutical development of 10 new products. Six of them are marketed in the US and Europe. Prior to joining Nextar, he served for several years as Vice President of Pharmaceutical Development at Pharmos Corp. a biopharmaceutical company engaged in drug discovery and development of new chemical entities. During the last 3 years, Dr. Amselem was Chairman of the Steering Committee and Head of Bioavailability project of Pharmalogica, a consortium established by the Office of Chief Scientist of the Israeli Ministry of Industry & Trade.. He was in charge of the entire drug development processes and all CMC and DMPK activities, including synthesis of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), formulation development, biopharmaceutics, bioavailability, bioanalytics, toxicity, pharmacokinetics, metabolism, GMP manufacturing of API and final dosage forms, and production of clinical trial material for human studies. In the course of his work, Dr. Amselem developed a strong network of contacts in the local and the international pharmaceutical industries.
